# How to Keep Your DashPledge Account Secure

## Keeping your DashPledge account secure

Your DashPledge account can provide access to fundraiser, participant, classroom, organization, or family information depending on your role.

Protecting your login credentials helps prevent unauthorized access to your account and the information available through it.

## Use a strong password

Choose a password that is difficult for someone else to guess.

Avoid passwords based on easily known information such as:

- Your name
- Your child's name
- Your school name
- Your organization name
- Birthdays
- Simple number sequences
- Common passwords

Avoid reusing the same password across important accounts whenever possible.

## Keep your password private

Do not share your DashPledge password with other people.

This includes:

- Students
- Parents or guardians
- Teachers
- Donors
- Other organization members who should have their own account
- DashPledge Support

Each authorized user should use the account intended for them.

## Will DashPledge Support ask for my password?

No.

You should never need to provide your DashPledge password to Support.

Support may ask for information that helps identify your account or understand a problem, but your password should remain private.

## Be careful with unexpected login requests

Only enter your DashPledge credentials when you're intentionally accessing DashPledge through the appropriate login experience.

Be cautious if an unexpected email, message, or website asks you to provide your password or other account credentials.

If you're unsure about a request, go directly to DashPledge rather than using an unfamiliar login link.

## What if I forget my password?

Use the **Forgot Password** option on the DashPledge login page.

Follow the password-reset instructions sent to the email address associated with your account.

Do not create another account simply because you forgot your password.

See **Accounts & Login → How to Reset Your DashPledge Password**.

## What if I think someone knows my password?

Change or reset your password as soon as possible.

Then review your account for unexpected changes.

Depending on your role, this can include checking:

- Account information
- Participating children
- Teacher or classroom information
- Organization access
- Campaigns
- Campaign Settings
- Payout information

If you notice activity you don't recognize, contact DashPledge Support.

## What if I receive a password-reset email I didn't request?

Do not use the reset link if you didn't request the password change.

Receiving an unexpected reset email does not necessarily mean someone successfully accessed your account.

If you're concerned about account security, go directly to DashPledge and change your password from a trusted session or request your own password reset.

Contact Support if you notice suspicious account activity.

## Protect the email connected to your account

Your email address can be important for:

- Password recovery
- Account notifications
- Fundraiser communications
- Security-related messages

Protect your email account with a strong password and the security options provided by your email service.

Someone who gains access to your email may also be able to attempt password recovery for other services.

## Don't share accounts

Avoid having several people use the same DashPledge login.

Role-based access exists so authorized users can have the appropriate tools for their responsibilities.

For example:

- Organizers use organizer access
- Teachers use teacher accounts
- Parents and guardians use their own accounts

Sharing one login makes it more difficult to understand who performed an action and increases security risk.

## Use the correct account for your role

Do not use someone else's account simply because it provides access to a page you need.

If your account appears to have the wrong role or missing permissions, contact DashPledge Support.

Do not work around access restrictions by borrowing another user's credentials.

## Protect organizer accounts

Organizer accounts can have access to important fundraiser-management information.

Depending on permissions, organizers may be able to access:

- My Campaigns
- Fundraiser Admin
- Donations
- Payouts
- Reports
- Settings

Only authorized organization users should have organizer-level access.

## Protect teacher accounts

Teacher accounts can provide access to participating classroom and student information.

Teachers should:

- Keep their login private
- Use only their assigned account
- Avoid sharing student information unnecessarily
- Sign out of shared devices after use

Teacher access should only be used for appropriate school fundraiser activities.

## Protect parent accounts

Parent and guardian accounts can provide access to participating children and their fundraiser information.

Parents should make sure they're signed into their own account before:

- Claiming a child
- Editing fundraiser information
- Logging activity
- Sharing fundraiser links

Do not share your parent login with donors or other supporters.

## Protect Stripe access

Authorized organizers may access the organization's connected Stripe experience through:

**Settings → Payout Setup → Open Stripe**

Your Stripe credentials are separate from your DashPledge login.

Never send your Stripe password through DashPledge Support, email, or chat.

## Protect banking information

Bank-account management should be completed through the secure connected-account experience available from:

**Settings → Payout Setup → Bank Account → Manage Bank**

Never send online banking passwords or complete banking credentials through ordinary DashPledge communications.

## Protect payment-card information

Donors should enter payment information only through the secure donation checkout experience.

Never place full payment card information in:

- Donor Comments
- Fundraiser stories
- Help Center messages
- Emails
- Chat
- Ordinary support requests

## Be careful on shared computers

If you're using a shared or public device:

- Avoid saving your password in the browser
- Sign out when finished
- Close the browser after signing out
- Don't leave your dashboard open unattended

This is especially important for organizer and teacher accounts.

## Sign out when you're finished

When using a device that other people can access, sign out of DashPledge when you're done.

Closing a browser tab isn't always the same as signing out.

Use the available account sign-out option.

## What if I see information I shouldn't have access to?

Do not copy, share, or use the information.

Contact DashPledge Support and identify:

- Your account role
- The page where the information appeared
- A general description of what was visible

Avoid unnecessarily reproducing sensitive information in your report.

## What if someone else used my account?

Change your password promptly.

Then contact DashPledge Support if you believe unauthorized actions may have occurred.

Provide information such as:

- Account email
- Your DashPledge role
- Approximate time you noticed the problem
- Unexpected changes or activity

Do not send your old or new password.

## What if my account email was changed unexpectedly?

If you can still access your account, review the available account information and secure your password.

If you can no longer access the account, contact DashPledge Support.

Do not create another account to replace the affected account while the issue is being investigated.

## What if my organization’s payout information changed unexpectedly?

If you're an authorized organizer and notice an unexpected change to Stripe or payout information:

1. Stop making additional financial changes.
2. Review **Settings → Payout Setup**.
3. Review the connected Stripe account through **Open Stripe** when appropriate.
4. Contact DashPledge Support promptly.

Do not send banking passwords or full banking credentials.

## What information is safe to provide to Support?

Depending on the issue, Support may need information such as:

- Account email
- Your DashPledge role
- School or organization
- Campaign
- Description of the problem
- Error message
- Screenshot with sensitive information removed

Only provide information relevant to the issue.

## What should I never send to Support?

Never send:

- DashPledge password
- Stripe password
- Online banking password
- Full payment card number
- Card security code
- Debit-card PIN
- Login verification codes
- Complete financial-account credentials

## Reporting a security concern

If you believe your DashPledge account or organization access may have been compromised, contact DashPledge Support promptly.

Describe what happened and identify the affected account or feature.

Avoid making unrelated changes while the issue is being reviewed.
