# How to Log Reading Minutes for Students as a Teacher

## Logging student activity

If your class is participating in a DashPledge activity-based fundraiser, you may be able to record student activity from your Teacher Dashboard.

The activity you record depends on the type of campaign your school is running.

For example:

- **Read-a-thon** campaigns can track reading minutes.
- **Move-a-thon** campaigns can track movement or activity progress.

Activity records help track each student's participation and contribute to classroom progress throughout the fundraiser.

## 1. Sign in to your Teacher Dashboard

Sign in to DashPledge using your teacher account.

From your Teacher Dashboard, open the available activity logging tool.

For a Read-a-thon, this may appear as **Reading Minutes** or **Log Minutes**.

For a Move-a-thon, use the activity logging option provided for the campaign.

## 2. Select the student

Choose the student whose activity you want to record.

Before entering any activity, confirm that you've selected the correct student.

Student activity is tracked individually, so each entry should always be recorded under the student who completed it.

## 3. Select the activity date

Choose the date when the activity took place.

Use the actual activity date whenever possible so DashPledge can accurately track participation during the fundraiser.

The campaign may limit eligible dates based on its start and end dates.

## 4. Enter the activity

Enter the activity requested for your campaign.

### For a Read-a-thon

Enter the number of minutes the student read.

For example, if the student read for 30 minutes, enter:

**30 minutes**

### For a Move-a-thon

Record the activity information requested by the Move-a-thon.

The available measurement depends on how the campaign is configured.

Follow the activity fields displayed by DashPledge and record the student's actual completed activity.

## 5. Save the activity

Review the student, date, and activity information before saving.

Once successfully saved, the activity is added to the student's progress.

## Where can I see the updated activity total?

After saving an entry, review the student's progress from the Teacher Dashboard or available classroom tools.

Depending on the campaign, you may see:

- Total activity completed
- Activity goal progress
- Recent activity
- Student achievements
- Classroom totals
- Leaderboard progress
- Fundraising progress

## Can parents also log activity?

Depending on the fundraiser setup, parents or guardians may also be able to record eligible activity for their claimed child.

Teachers and parents should record activity accurately and avoid entering the same activity more than once.

## What if a student is unclaimed?

An unclaimed student may still appear on your classroom roster.

Available activity features can depend on the campaign workflow and the student's participation status.

Follow the controls available in your Teacher Dashboard.

Do not create a duplicate student or another record to work around an unavailable activity option.

## What if I recorded activity for the wrong student?

If an editing or correction option is available, correct the entry using the provided activity controls.

If you cannot correct the entry yourself, contact the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support.

Do not create additional activity entries simply to offset an incorrect entry.

## What if I entered the wrong activity amount?

Review the available activity controls to see whether the entry can be corrected.

If editing isn't available, ask the appropriate fundraiser administrator or DashPledge Support for assistance.

Accurate activity records are important because they can affect student totals, classroom progress, achievements, and leaderboards.

## Why isn't the new activity showing?

First, confirm that the activity was successfully saved.

Then check that:

- The correct student was selected
- The activity date is correct
- The date is eligible for the campaign
- The activity information was entered correctly
- The entry wasn't rejected or left incomplete

Refresh the dashboard and check the student's progress again.

If the activity still doesn't appear, visit **Troubleshooting**.

## Can I enter multiple activity sessions?

When multiple eligible activity sessions need to be recorded, enter them according to the controls provided by DashPledge.

Avoid entering the same activity session more than once.

## Does student activity affect donations?

No. Activity progress and fundraising totals measure different parts of the fundraiser.

**Activity progress** tracks the student's participation, such as reading or movement.

**Fundraising progress** tracks eligible donations associated with the fundraiser.

Recording additional activity does not create or change a donation.

## Does activity affect the leaderboard?

For campaigns with leaderboards enabled, eligible activity may contribute to student or classroom rankings.

For example, a Read-a-thon leaderboard may use reading progress, while a Move-a-thon leaderboard may use the activity measurement configured for that campaign.

Leaderboard visibility depends on the fundraiser's settings and privacy controls.

## Can students earn achievements from activity?

Depending on the campaign, students may earn achievements or milestones as their activity increases.

Read-a-thon and Move-a-thon campaigns can have different milestones based on the activity being tracked.

Available achievements depend on the campaign configuration.

## Tips for accurate activity records

When recording student activity:

- Select the correct student
- Use the correct activity date
- Record the actual activity completed
- Avoid duplicate entries
- Review the information before saving
- Check that the student's progress updates afterward

Accurate records help students, families, teachers, and organizers follow campaign progress.
