# Troubleshooting Teacher Signup and Missing Students

## Troubleshooting teacher signup and student access

If you're having trouble joining DashPledge as a teacher, connecting to your school, or seeing the students assigned to your classroom, use this guide before creating another account, teacher, or student record.

Teacher access depends on the correct relationships between your DashPledge account, school, fundraiser, classroom, and participating students.

## Before you begin

Make sure your school is already participating in a DashPledge fundraiser.

It can help to have:

- Your school name
- Your teacher account email
- Your classroom or grade information
- Fundraiser information provided by your school

If your school provided a specific signup or invitation link, use that link when possible.

## I already have a DashPledge account

If you previously created a DashPledge account, sign in with your existing account when appropriate.

Do not create another teacher account simply because your school, classroom, or students aren't appearing.

If you forgot your password, use the password-reset process.

## I can't find my school during teacher signup

First, confirm that you're using the correct teacher signup process and fundraiser information.

Check:

- School name
- School spelling
- Fundraiser information
- Invitation or signup link, when provided

Do not select another school simply to continue.

If the correct school still doesn't appear, contact the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support.

## I see schools that aren't mine

Select only the school you're actually associated with.

If your school isn't available or the choices appear incorrect, don't choose another school as a workaround.

Stop the signup process and request assistance.

## I selected the wrong school

If the signup process allows you to return to the previous step, go back and select the correct school.

If you already completed signup with the wrong school, don't create another teacher account.

Contact DashPledge Support so the account relationship can be reviewed.

## I completed teacher signup, but my dashboard is empty

First, confirm that you're signed in with the correct teacher account.

Then verify that the account is associated with the correct:

- School
- Fundraiser
- Classroom

An empty Teacher Dashboard doesn't necessarily mean you need another account.

The teacher or student relationships may still need to be reviewed.

## My Teacher Dashboard shows zero students

If you expect students but your dashboard shows **0 students**, don't create students simply to populate the dashboard.

Participating students are connected through the fundraiser roster.

Possible causes include:

- Students haven't yet been added to the fundraiser roster
- Students are associated with another teacher
- Your teacher account is connected to the wrong school or campaign
- The teacher relationship hasn't been completed correctly

Contact the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support if the roster appears incorrect.

## Some students appear, but others are missing

Compare the students shown with the expected classroom roster.

For each missing student, confirm that the student is associated with:

- The correct school
- The correct campaign
- Your teacher or classroom

Do not recreate a missing student until the existing roster information has been checked.

## A student is assigned to the wrong teacher

Do not create another copy of the student under the correct teacher.

The existing student's classroom or teacher relationship should be corrected.

Duplicate student records can affect:

- Parent claiming
- Student fundraising pages
- Activity tracking
- Fundraising progress
- Achievements
- Leaderboards
- Reports

## I see a student who isn't in my classroom

Confirm that you're viewing the correct campaign and Teacher Dashboard.

If the student is incorrectly assigned to you, report the roster issue to the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support.

Do not delete the student simply because the classroom assignment is wrong.

## Why are some students marked Unclaimed?

An **Unclaimed** student is already part of the fundraiser roster but hasn't yet been connected to a parent or guardian account.

This doesn't mean the student needs to be recreated.

Teachers should not claim students on behalf of parents.

## Why are some students marked Claimed?

A **Claimed** student has been connected to an eligible parent or guardian account.

Depending on the fundraiser, the family may then prepare, publish, and share the student's mini-fundraiser.

Claim status is separate from the student's teacher or classroom assignment.

## A claimed student doesn't have a public fundraiser

Claiming and publishing are separate steps.

A parent may have successfully claimed the child but not yet completed the student's fundraiser setup and publishing process.

Do not recreate or reassign the student simply because a public fundraiser isn't available yet.

## A student's fundraiser shows the wrong teacher

This may indicate that the underlying student or classroom relationship needs review.

Do not edit unrelated fundraiser content to work around the problem.

Contact the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support so the student relationship can be corrected.

## I can't log student activity

For activity-based campaigns, make sure:

- You're viewing the correct campaign
- The student is assigned to your classroom
- The campaign supports activity tracking
- You're using the appropriate activity tool

A **Read-a-thon** can use reading-minute tracking.

A **Move-a-thon** can use the activity measurement configured for that fundraiser.

If the expected activity controls aren't available, don't create duplicate records to work around the problem.

## I logged activity, but the student's total didn't change

Confirm that:

- The correct student was selected
- The correct date was used
- The activity amount was entered correctly
- The entry was successfully saved
- The activity is eligible for the campaign

Refresh the page and check again.

Do not enter the same activity a second time simply because the total hasn't updated yet.

## The student total updated, but the classroom total didn't

Confirm that the student is associated with the correct teacher and classroom.

If the student relationship is correct and the individual total has updated, refresh the classroom progress information.

If the classroom total remains incorrect, contact DashPledge Support.

## My classroom leaderboard looks wrong

First, review the underlying student activity.

Check that eligible activity is associated with the correct students and classroom.

If student and classroom totals are correct but the leaderboard ranking remains incorrect, contact DashPledge Support.

Do not create additional activity to change the ranking.

## My classroom progress changed unexpectedly

Review:

- Student assignments
- Recent activity
- Fundraising progress
- Campaign
- Classroom totals

If a student was incorrectly moved or duplicated, the underlying roster relationship should be corrected rather than manually adjusting classroom totals.

## A student disappeared after a change

Do not recreate the student immediately.

First check whether:

- You're viewing the correct campaign
- The student is now associated with another teacher
- A roster change occurred
- Your teacher account relationship changed

If you cannot locate the existing student, contact the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support.

## Teacher signup won't proceed to the next step

Make sure all required information on the current signup step has been completed.

If a school or other required selection has been made but the process still doesn't continue:

1. Avoid repeatedly clicking the button.
2. Refresh the page once.
3. Confirm whether your teacher account was already created.
4. Try signing in.

If the signup process remains incomplete, contact DashPledge Support.

## I completed signup but wasn't redirected to my Teacher Dashboard

Try signing in using the account you just created.

If you can sign in but don't reach the expected Teacher Dashboard, contact DashPledge Support.

Do not create another teacher account to try to trigger the redirect.

## I see the wrong dashboard after signing in

DashPledge uses role-based access.

If you signed up as a teacher but see another dashboard, sign out and verify that you're using the intended account.

If the wrong dashboard continues to appear, contact DashPledge Support so your role can be reviewed.

## I accidentally created two teacher accounts

Stop using both accounts independently.

Do not create duplicate teachers or students to match each account.

See:

**Accounts & Login → What to Do If You Have Duplicate DashPledge Accounts**

or contact DashPledge Support.

## Should I create a missing student?

Not simply because the student doesn't appear in your Teacher Dashboard.

The existing fundraiser roster should be checked first.

Creating a duplicate student can cause problems throughout the fundraiser.

## Should I move students around to fix classroom totals?

No.

Only correct a student's teacher or classroom relationship when the assignment itself is actually wrong.

Do not move students simply to make totals or leaderboard rankings look different.

## What information should I provide to Support?

For teacher-access or missing-student problems, helpful information includes:

- Teacher name
- Teacher account email
- School
- Fundraiser
- Classroom or grade
- Expected number of students
- Students who are missing or incorrectly assigned
- What your dashboard currently shows
- Error message, when applicable
- Screenshot, when helpful

Do not send your password.

## What should I avoid doing?

While a teacher or roster problem is being investigated, avoid:

- Creating another teacher account
- Creating duplicate students
- Deleting students
- Re-entering activity unnecessarily
- Moving students simply to change totals
- Creating another campaign

Preserving the existing records makes the issue easier to diagnose safely.
