# What to Do If You Have Duplicate DashPledge Accounts

## Having more than one DashPledge account

If you accidentally created more than one DashPledge account, don't continue using both accounts independently.

Your original account may already be connected to important information such as participating children, a classroom, an organization, or a fundraiser.

Creating additional accounts can make those relationships harder to manage.

## How duplicate accounts can happen

Duplicate accounts can happen when someone:

- Signs up using a different email address
- Forgets they already have a DashPledge account
- Creates another account after forgetting a password
- Creates another account because a child, classroom, or campaign appears to be missing
- Uses a different email when joining another fundraiser

If you already have a DashPledge account, use that account whenever possible.

## What should I do first?

Stop creating additional accounts.

Then determine which DashPledge accounts you may have used.

Check the email addresses you commonly use and look for previous DashPledge messages, such as:

- Account emails
- Password-reset messages
- Fundraiser notifications
- Child-claim notifications
- Campaign communications

This may help you identify your original account.

## Which account should I use?

Whenever possible, continue using the account that already contains your correct DashPledge relationships.

For example, this may be the account that already has:

- Your claimed child or children
- Your teacher relationship and students
- Your organization access
- Your campaigns
- Your correct user role

If you're unsure which account should remain active, contact DashPledge Support before making additional changes.

## I'm a parent and my children are split between two accounts

Do not create additional child records or attempt to claim the same child again.

Contact DashPledge Support so the account and child relationships can be reviewed.

Provide the email addresses associated with the accounts and identify the participating children involved.

Do not send account passwords.

## I created another account because I couldn't find my child

If the child already exists in DashPledge, creating another parent account will not necessarily solve the problem.

The issue may instead involve:

- School selection
- Teacher selection
- Child roster information
- Existing claim status
- Account relationship

See **What to Do If You Can’t Find or Claim Your Child** under Parents & Students.

## I created another account because I forgot my password

You generally don't need another account when you forget your password.

Use **Forgot Password** to recover access to your existing account.

See **How to Reset Your DashPledge Password**.

## I'm a teacher and created two accounts

If your classroom or students are associated with one teacher account but you're signing in with another, your Teacher Dashboard may appear empty or incomplete.

Do not create duplicate teachers or students to fix the issue.

Contact DashPledge Support so the teacher-account relationship can be reviewed.

## I'm an organizer and created another account

Your organization's campaigns and organizer permissions may already be associated with your original account.

Creating another organizer account does not automatically transfer:

- Organization access
- Campaign access
- Fundraiser Admin access
- Donations access
- Payout access
- Reports
- Settings

If your new account doesn't show the expected organization or campaigns, contact DashPledge Support rather than creating another organization or fundraiser.

## Can I just delete one of the accounts?

Don't delete an account simply because it appears to be a duplicate.

The account may already be connected to important DashPledge records.

Before an account is removed or otherwise corrected, its relationships should be reviewed.

## Can DashPledge merge duplicate accounts?

If you have duplicate accounts, contact DashPledge Support so the situation can be reviewed.

The appropriate resolution depends on the information and relationships associated with each account.

Do not assume every account can be automatically merged.

Support may instead need to correct or transfer specific account relationships.

## Will fixing duplicate accounts delete my donations?

Donation transactions should remain part of the applicable fundraiser and transaction history.

Account correction should not be used as a method for deleting legitimate donation records.

## Will fixing duplicate accounts affect my child’s fundraiser?

The goal of correcting a duplicate parent account is to preserve the correct child and fundraiser relationships.

Do not create another child or fundraiser while the account issue is being reviewed.

## Will my child lose reading or Move-a-thon activity?

Existing eligible activity belongs to the applicable student and campaign records rather than being something that should be recreated simply because a parent account is corrected.

Avoid creating duplicate activity while an account issue is being resolved.

## What information should I provide to Support?

When asking DashPledge Support to review duplicate accounts, provide:

- Your name
- The email addresses associated with the accounts
- Your DashPledge role
- School or organization, when relevant
- Participating child or children, when relevant
- Teacher or classroom, when relevant
- Campaign, when relevant
- Which account appears to contain the correct information
- A brief explanation of how the duplicate account was created

This helps Support understand which relationships need to be reviewed.

## What should I never provide?

Never send:

- DashPledge passwords
- Stripe passwords
- Online banking passwords
- Full payment card numbers
- Security codes
- Login verification codes

DashPledge Support should not need your password to review duplicate accounts.

## How can I avoid duplicate accounts in the future?

Before creating a new DashPledge account:

1. Try signing in with your existing email.
2. Use **Forgot Password** if you don't remember the password.
3. Check whether your participating children are already connected.
4. Check whether your teacher or organization access already exists.
5. Contact Support if something expected is missing.

One DashPledge account can support multiple appropriate relationships, including multiple participating children.

## What if I need to join another fundraiser?

Having another fundraiser does not automatically mean you need another DashPledge account.

Use your existing account whenever the DashPledge workflow allows it.

For example, a parent with another eligible participating child can use **Claim Another Child** rather than creating another parent account.
