Logging reading minutes #
If your child is participating in a DashPledge Read-a-thon, reading minutes can be recorded throughout the campaign to track their reading progress.
Parents and guardians can use DashPledge to log reading activity for a participating child.
1. Sign in to your parent account #
Sign in to the DashPledge account connected to your child.
From your parent dashboard, select the child whose reading activity you want to record.
If you have multiple participating children, make sure you’ve selected the correct child before entering reading minutes.
2. Open Log Minutes #
From your child’s dashboard or available activity tools, select Log Minutes.
This opens the reading activity form for the selected child.
3. Select the reading date #
Choose the date when the reading took place.
Make sure the reading activity is entered for the correct date so your child’s progress is recorded accurately.
4. Enter the number of minutes read #
Enter the number of minutes your child spent reading.
Record the actual reading time completed by your child.
For example, if your child read for 30 minutes, enter:
30 minutes
5. Save the reading activity #
Review the information and save the reading entry.
After the entry is successfully saved, the minutes are added to your child’s reading progress.
Where can I see the updated total? #
After logging minutes, return to your child’s dashboard or progress area.
Depending on the fundraiser, you may see:
- Total reading minutes
- Reading goal progress
- Recent reading activity
- Achievements or milestones
- Classroom progress
- Leaderboard information
Can teachers log reading minutes too? #
Depending on the campaign setup, teachers may also be able to record reading minutes for students assigned to their classroom.
Reading activity should always be associated with the correct student and reading date.
What if I have more than one child? #
Reading minutes are tracked separately for each participating child.
Before entering an activity, confirm that you’ve selected the correct child.
For example, reading minutes recorded for one child should not be entered under a sibling’s fundraiser.
Can I log reading from an earlier date? #
When the reading form allows date selection, choose the date when the reading actually occurred.
The campaign may limit which dates are eligible based on the fundraiser’s active period or activity rules.
What if I entered the wrong number of minutes? #
If an entry was recorded incorrectly and an editing option is available, correct the reading entry using the available activity controls.
If you cannot correct the entry yourself, contact the appropriate teacher, fundraiser organizer, or DashPledge Support for assistance.
Do not create additional reading entries simply to offset an incorrect entry.
Why aren’t the minutes showing in the total? #
First, make sure the reading entry was successfully saved for the correct child.
Then refresh the dashboard and check the reading progress again.
If the minutes still don’t appear, possible reasons may include:
- The entry was not successfully saved
- The activity was entered for a different child
- The selected date is outside the eligible campaign period
- The dashboard has not yet refreshed the updated total
If the problem continues, visit Troubleshooting.
Do reading minutes affect fundraising totals? #
Reading progress and fundraising progress are separate measurements.
Reading minutes track your child’s participation in the Read-a-thon, while fundraising totals reflect eligible donations associated with the fundraiser.
Both may appear together on your child’s dashboard or fundraising page.
Can reading minutes appear on a leaderboard? #
Read-a-thon campaigns may include student or classroom leaderboards based on reading activity.
Whether individual student information appears depends on the campaign’s settings and privacy controls.
What happens when my child reaches a reading milestone? #
DashPledge may recognize certain reading achievements or milestones during the campaign.
Available milestones and achievements depend on the fundraiser configuration.
Your child’s dashboard can display earned achievements when available.
Tips for accurate reading logs #
To keep your child’s reading progress accurate:
- Record actual reading time
- Select the correct child
- Use the correct reading date
- Avoid entering the same reading session more than once
- Review the updated total after saving
Accurate activity logs help students, families, teachers, and classrooms follow progress throughout the Read-a-thon.
