Understanding the Global Leaderboard #
The Global Leaderboard gives authorized organizers a campaign-wide view of participant progress during supported DashPledge fundraisers.
While teachers can use classroom leaderboards to follow their own students and classrooms, the Global Leaderboard helps organizers view progress across the broader fundraiser.
The information and rankings available depend on the campaign type and its settings.
How to open the Global Leaderboard #
Sign in to your DashPledge Organizer Dashboard.
From the main navigation:
- Select Fundraiser Admin.
- Select Global Leaderboard.
- Make sure you’re viewing the correct fundraiser.
DashPledge will display the leaderboard information available for that campaign.
What does the Global Leaderboard show? #
Depending on the fundraiser, the Global Leaderboard may help organizers compare progress across:
- Participating students
- Teachers or classrooms
- Activity totals
- Fundraising progress
- Campaign-wide participation
The exact information displayed depends on the campaign type and privacy settings.
How does the Read-a-thon leaderboard work? #
For a Read-a-thon, eligible reading activity can contribute to leaderboard progress.
Depending on the available leaderboard view, organizers may be able to compare information such as:
- Student reading minutes
- Classroom reading totals
- Reading progress
- Participation
- Rankings
Reading activity should be associated with the correct student, teacher, classroom, and campaign.
How does the Move-a-thon leaderboard work? #
For a Move-a-thon, eligible movement or activity can contribute to leaderboard progress.
The measurement used depends on how the campaign is configured.
The Global Leaderboard may help organizers compare student or classroom activity across the fundraiser.
Are fundraising totals included? #
Fundraising progress and activity progress are different measurements.
When fundraising leaderboard information is available, it is based on eligible donations associated with the fundraiser.
A participant or classroom can therefore have a different fundraising position than activity position.
How are rankings calculated? #
Rankings are calculated from the eligible campaign information associated with the leaderboard.
For activity-based campaigns, this can include qualifying activity recorded for participating students.
Organizers should not manually assign leaderboard positions.
If a ranking appears incorrect, review the underlying participant and activity information.
Why do rankings change? #
Leaderboard positions can change throughout an active campaign.
As participating students and classrooms record additional eligible activity or fundraising progress changes, their positions may move.
This is normal during an active fundraiser.
How often does the leaderboard update? #
Leaderboard information updates as eligible campaign activity is recorded and processed.
If you recently recorded activity and don’t immediately see a change, refresh the page and check again.
What if a student is missing from the leaderboard? #
First, confirm that the student:
- Belongs to the correct campaign
- Is associated with the correct teacher or classroom
- Meets the participation requirements for the leaderboard
- Has eligible activity when applicable
Also consider the campaign’s privacy and participation settings.
Do not create a duplicate student simply to make the student appear on the leaderboard.
What if a classroom total looks incorrect? #
Review the students associated with that classroom and the underlying activity contributing to the total.
Check that activity has been recorded for:
- The correct student
- The correct activity date
- The correct campaign
- The appropriate activity type
Incorrect participant assignments can also affect classroom totals.
Do unclaimed students appear? #
A student’s presence on the campaign roster and the student’s parent-claim status are separate concepts.
Whether an unclaimed student contributes to or appears on a particular leaderboard depends on the campaign’s participation rules and privacy controls.
Organizers should rely on the eligibility rules enforced by DashPledge rather than creating or removing participant records simply to change leaderboard results.
Are student names always public? #
No.
Information available to an organizer inside Fundraiser Admin can be different from information displayed publicly.
Public student information should follow the campaign’s privacy settings.
Are student photos shown? #
Student photos should only appear where the campaign settings and applicable privacy controls allow them.
If student photos are disabled for the campaign, they should not be publicly displayed on leaderboard experiences covered by that setting.
Can I manually change a ranking? #
No.
Leaderboard positions should come from eligible campaign data rather than manual ranking changes.
If a ranking is wrong, correct the underlying participant or activity information when appropriate.
Do not add artificial activity simply to change a leaderboard position.
What is the difference between the Global Leaderboard and a classroom leaderboard? #
The Global Leaderboard provides an organizer-level view across the fundraiser.
A classroom leaderboard provides teachers with a more focused view of eligible progress associated with their classroom.
The exact views available depend on the campaign.
Are leaderboards the same as achievements? #
No.
Leaderboards compare eligible progress among participants or classrooms.
Achievements recognize an individual student for reaching an eligible milestone.
A student can earn achievements without being at the top of the Global Leaderboard.
How should organizers use the Global Leaderboard? #
The Global Leaderboard can help organizers:
- Monitor campaign participation
- Recognize active classrooms
- Follow campaign momentum
- Identify changes in participation
- Celebrate progress
- Encourage continued involvement
Leaderboards should be used as a positive participation tool rather than as the only measure of campaign success.
What happens when the fundraiser ends? #
When the campaign reaches its scheduled end, eligible campaign activity is finalized according to the fundraiser’s rules.
Final leaderboard information can then reflect the completed campaign results available to the organizer.
What if the leaderboard still looks incorrect? #
If the underlying participant assignments and activity totals appear correct but the Global Leaderboard does not, visit Troubleshooting or contact DashPledge Support.
When reporting the issue, include the fundraiser, affected participant or classroom, and a description of the discrepancy.
