Claiming your child #
When your child participates in a DashPledge school fundraiser, you can claim your child to connect their fundraiser to your parent or guardian account.
Once claimed, you can prepare your child’s fundraiser, personalize available information, track progress, and share the fundraising page with family and friends.
Before you begin #
Your child must already be included in the participating school’s fundraiser roster.
It helps to know your child’s:
- School
- Teacher
- Name
- Participating fundraiser
If your school provided a DashPledge signup or invitation link, use that link when possible.
1. Go to Signup and select Parent #
Open the DashPledge Signup page.
Select Parent as your role.
If you already have a DashPledge parent account, sign in to your existing account instead of creating another one.
Do not create a separate parent account for each child.
2. Select your school #
Choose the school associated with your child’s fundraiser.
Make sure you select the correct school. DashPledge uses the school and its active fundraiser to locate the appropriate teachers and participating students.
3. Select your child’s teacher #
Choose your child’s teacher.
Selecting the correct teacher narrows the available student list to children associated with that teacher and fundraiser.
If you don’t see the correct teacher, confirm that you selected the correct school.
4. Find your child #
Find your child in the participating student list.
Review the child’s information carefully before continuing.
If your child does not appear, do not create a new student record. Check the school and teacher selections first.
5. Claim your child #
Select your child and complete the Claim step.
Once the claim is successful, the child becomes connected to your DashPledge parent or guardian account.
A child who has already been claimed may no longer be available for another parent account through the normal signup process.
6. Prepare your child’s fundraiser #
After claiming your child, continue to the fundraiser setup.
Depending on the campaign settings, you can review or personalize available information such as:
- Fundraiser story or message
- Student photo, when permitted
- Fundraising goal
- Campaign information
- Sharing information
Available options depend on the fundraiser and its privacy settings.
7. Preview the fundraiser #
Review the fundraiser before publishing.
Check the child’s fundraiser information, story, photo when enabled, goal, and other available details.
If something needs to be changed, make the correction before publishing.
8. Publish the fundraiser #
When everything looks correct, select Publish.
Publishing makes the child’s fundraiser available through its public fundraising page according to the campaign’s privacy settings.
9. Share the fundraiser #
After publishing, you can share the child’s fundraiser with family, friends, and supporters.
Available sharing tools can include:
- Direct fundraising link
- Individual QR code
- Sharing tools from the Parent Dashboard
Supporters can use the child’s public fundraiser page to make a donation.
Can I claim more than one child? #
Yes.
Multiple eligible children can be connected to the same parent or guardian account. You do not need to create a separate parent account for each child.
After claiming one child, use Claim Another Child to connect another eligible child.
What if I forgot to claim another child? #
Return to DashPledge and use Claim Another Child for the eligible child you still need to claim.
DashPledge may also send a reminder when another eligible child associated with your family remains unclaimed.
Do not create another parent account.
What if I can’t find my child? #
Confirm that you selected the correct:
- School
- Fundraiser
- Teacher
If your child still doesn’t appear, their roster information may not yet be available, they may be associated with a different teacher, or they may already have been claimed.
Do not create a duplicate student or another parent account.
Visit Troubleshooting Parent Signup and Child Claiming or contact DashPledge Support if you still cannot locate your child.
What if I accidentally claimed the wrong child? #
Do not create another account or another student to correct the problem.
Contact DashPledge Support so the parent-child relationship can be reviewed and corrected safely.
Is my child’s information public? #
Claiming your child does not automatically make all of their information public.
What appears on the public fundraiser depends on the campaign’s privacy settings and available privacy controls, including whether student photos are permitted.
See Privacy & Security for additional information about student and family information.
What’s next? #
Once your child’s fundraiser is published, you can use the Parent Dashboard to manage their fundraiser, track progress, share their page, view achievements and rewards when available, and manage other participating children.
