Donating anonymously on DashPledge #
Some DashPledge fundraisers allow donors to make a donation without displaying their name publicly.
When this option is available, select Anonymous Donation during the donation process.
An anonymous donation still supports the fundraiser normally. The anonymous option primarily controls how donor information is displayed publicly.
Where is the Anonymous Donation option? #
Open the DashPledge fundraising page you want to support and begin the donation process.
When anonymous giving is enabled for that campaign, the donation form will include an Anonymous Donation option.
Select it before completing your donation if you don’t want your name displayed publicly as a supporter.
Can I donate anonymously through the main campaign? #
Yes, when anonymous donations are enabled for the campaign.
A donation made through the main campaign page contributes to the overall school or organization fundraising total.
Choosing Anonymous Donation does not change how the eligible donation contributes to the campaign.
Can I donate anonymously through a student mini-fundraiser? #
Yes, when anonymous donations are enabled.
A donation made through a student mini-fundraiser can still contribute to:
- The student’s individual fundraising progress
- The overall school or organization campaign total
Selecting Anonymous Donation changes the applicable public donor recognition, not the fundraising credit.
Does anonymous mean DashPledge doesn’t know who donated? #
No.
An anonymous donation is not the same as an unidentified payment.
DashPledge and its connected payment-processing services may still need donor and transaction information to:
- Process the payment
- Maintain transaction records
- Provide donation confirmation
- Generate applicable receipts
- Handle refunds or disputes
- Provide support
- Meet applicable financial or legal requirements
The anonymous option controls applicable public display of the donor’s identity.
What will other people see? #
When your donation is anonymous, your name should not appear in applicable public supporter displays covered by the anonymous setting.
The fundraiser may instead identify the contribution as anonymous or otherwise omit the donor’s public identity.
The exact public presentation depends on the fundraiser experience.
Will the organizer still have donation records? #
Authorized organizers can have access to donation information needed to administer their fundraiser.
Choosing Anonymous Donation should not remove the underlying transaction record.
Public anonymity and authorized administrative access are different.
Does donating anonymously change the amount raised? #
No.
An eligible anonymous donation contributes to fundraising totals in the same way as a non-anonymous donation.
For example, an eligible $50 fundraiser donation remains a $50 fundraiser donation whether the donor’s name is displayed publicly or hidden.
Does an anonymous donation count toward a student’s goal? #
Yes, when the eligible donation is made through that student’s mini-fundraiser.
The donation can still contribute to the student’s fundraising progress even though the donor’s name isn’t displayed publicly.
Does an anonymous donation count toward the main campaign goal? #
Yes.
Eligible fundraiser donations continue to contribute to the overall school or organization campaign regardless of whether the donor chooses public anonymity.
What about the DashPledge tip? #
The optional DashPledge tip remains separate from the fundraiser donation.
Choosing Anonymous Donation does not turn the DashPledge tip into part of the campaign contribution.
The tip does not count toward the student’s or organization’s fundraising goal.
Can I leave a donor message while donating anonymously? #
When donor comments are enabled, the donation form may allow you to leave a message of support.
Remember that a donor message may be displayed according to the campaign’s supporter-message settings.
Avoid including your name or other identifying information in the message if you want the donation to remain publicly anonymous.
Will I still receive a donation receipt? #
Yes, applicable donation confirmation or receipt information can still be sent using the email associated with the transaction.
Public anonymity does not prevent DashPledge from using the information needed to process and document the donation.
Can I make my donation anonymous after paying? #
It’s best to select Anonymous Donation before completing your payment.
If you’ve already completed a donation and believe your public donor information needs to be changed, contact DashPledge Support.
Do not make another donation simply to correct the visibility of the first one.
Why don’t I see the Anonymous Donation option? #
The option may not be available if anonymous giving is not enabled for that fundraiser.
Campaign organizers can have campaign-level controls that affect available donation options.
If the donation form doesn’t provide an anonymous option, don’t assume the donation will automatically be anonymous.
How do organizers control anonymous donations? #
Authorized organizers can review applicable donation options through:
Fundraiser Admin → Campaign Settings → Donation Settings
Available Donation Settings can include options related to anonymous donations and other donor-facing features.
Is my payment information ever displayed publicly? #
Sensitive payment credentials such as full card information should never be displayed publicly as part of a fundraiser.
Never send full card numbers, security codes, account passwords, or payment credentials through donor messages, email, chat, or ordinary support requests.
For more information, visit Privacy & Security.
