Troubleshooting student activity and progress #
If reading minutes, Move-a-thon activity, achievements, or student progress aren’t updating correctly, start by checking the underlying activity record.
DashPledge tracks activity for the individual student, campaign, and applicable activity date. Incorrect or duplicate activity can affect student totals, classroom progress, achievements, and leaderboards.
Which campaigns track student activity? #
Activity tracking depends on the fundraiser type.
Read-a-thon #
Read-a-thon campaigns can track reading minutes.
Move-a-thon #
Move-a-thon campaigns can track the movement or activity measurement configured for that fundraiser.
Other campaign types may use different participation features or may not use student activity tracking.
My child’s activity isn’t updating #
If you’re a parent or guardian, first confirm that you’re viewing the correct child.
Then check that:
- The activity was successfully saved
- The correct child was selected
- The correct activity date was entered
- The date is eligible for the campaign
- The activity wasn’t accidentally entered under a sibling
Refresh the Parent Dashboard and check the progress again.
My student’s activity isn’t updating #
If you’re a teacher, confirm that the activity was recorded for the correct student.
Check:
- Student
- Activity date
- Activity amount
- Campaign
- Classroom
Then refresh the Teacher Dashboard and review the student’s progress.
Reading minutes aren’t showing #
For a Read-a-thon, confirm that the reading entry was successfully saved.
Make sure the reading minutes were entered for:
- The correct student
- The correct reading date
- The active Read-a-thon campaign
If the entry exists but the total still doesn’t update, don’t enter the same reading session again.
Contact DashPledge Support if necessary.
Move-a-thon activity isn’t showing #
For a Move-a-thon, make sure you’re using the activity measurement provided for that campaign.
Confirm that:
- The correct student was selected
- The activity was entered correctly
- The activity date is correct
- The entry was successfully saved
Do not create duplicate activity simply because the total hasn’t refreshed yet.
I logged activity for the wrong child #
If you have multiple participating children, activity must be recorded separately for each child.
If an activity was accidentally recorded for the wrong child, use the available correction controls when possible.
If you cannot correct the entry yourself, contact the appropriate teacher, fundraiser organizer, or DashPledge Support.
Do not enter additional activity to offset the incorrect record.
I logged activity for the wrong student as a teacher #
Do not create another entry for the correct student while leaving the incorrect entry unresolved if doing so would duplicate the activity.
Use the available correction tools when possible.
If you cannot correct the record, contact the fundraiser organizer or DashPledge Support.
I entered the wrong activity amount #
If editing is available, correct the existing entry.
For example, if 300 reading minutes were entered instead of 30, correct the original entry rather than creating another record.
If editing isn’t available, request assistance.
I entered the wrong date #
Activity dates can matter because DashPledge campaigns have defined start and end dates.
If an incorrect date was used, correct the existing entry when possible.
Activity outside the eligible campaign period may not be included in campaign progress.
Can I log activity from an earlier date? #
When DashPledge allows you to select an activity date, use the date when the activity actually occurred.
The campaign may restrict activity to eligible dates within the fundraiser period.
I saved the activity but nothing changed #
First, refresh the page.
Then check whether the activity appears in the student’s available activity history or progress information.
If the entry appears but the total remains unchanged, avoid saving the same activity again.
Contact DashPledge Support if the discrepancy continues.
The student total is correct but the classroom total is wrong #
If individual student activity is correct but the classroom total appears wrong, confirm that the student is associated with the correct teacher and classroom.
Classroom relationships can affect how eligible student activity contributes to classroom progress.
Do not create another student to correct a classroom total.
The classroom total is correct but the leaderboard is wrong #
Leaderboard calculations use eligible campaign information and can also depend on participation and privacy rules.
Refresh the leaderboard and verify that you’re viewing the correct campaign.
If the underlying student and classroom totals are correct but the leaderboard remains incorrect, contact DashPledge Support.
My child’s achievement didn’t appear #
First, determine what progress the achievement requires.
If it is based on activity, verify that the student’s activity total has reached the required milestone.
Refresh the dashboard after confirming the total.
If the student has reached the milestone but the achievement still doesn’t appear, contact DashPledge Support.
An achievement appeared at the wrong milestone #
Check the student’s underlying activity or fundraising progress.
Achievements should be based on eligible milestone progress.
Do not manually create activity or donations to change an achievement.
If the underlying progress is correct but the achievement is not, report the issue.
My child’s certificate shows the wrong milestone #
Confirm the achievement or milestone associated with the certificate.
If the student’s underlying progress is correct but the certificate displays incorrect milestone information, contact DashPledge Support.
Do not alter activity records simply to change the certificate.
Activity appears twice #
Do not add or delete unrelated activity to compensate for a duplicate.
If you can safely identify and correct the duplicate using the available controls, do so.
Otherwise, contact DashPledge Support and identify:
- Student
- Activity type
- Activity date
- Amount
- Duplicate entries
Can both parents and teachers log activity? #
Depending on the campaign configuration, parents and teachers may both have activity-logging tools.
Everyone should avoid recording the same activity session more than once.
If you’re unsure whether an activity has already been recorded, check the student’s current activity information before entering it again.
An unclaimed student has activity #
Student roster status and parent claim status are separate concepts.
Follow the activity controls and eligibility rules provided by DashPledge for the campaign.
Do not claim the student on behalf of a parent or create another student simply because the activity or claim status appears unexpected.
A claimed student has no fundraiser page #
Activity tracking and fundraiser publishing are related but separate workflows.
A student may be part of the campaign while their individual fundraiser still needs to complete the applicable parent setup and publishing process.
Check the student’s fundraiser status rather than creating another student.
Fundraising progress changed but activity didn’t #
This can be normal.
Fundraising progress comes from eligible donations.
Activity progress comes from campaign activity such as reading or movement.
A donation does not automatically add reading minutes or Move-a-thon activity.
Activity changed but fundraising progress didn’t #
This can also be normal.
Logging activity does not create a donation.
Student activity and fundraising totals are tracked separately.
What information should I provide to Support? #
For an activity problem, helpful information includes:
- School
- Campaign
- Campaign type
- Student
- Teacher or classroom
- Activity date
- Activity amount
- Expected total
- Total currently displayed
- Screenshot, when helpful
For example:
Read-a-thon activity for this student shows 120 minutes, but the saved entries total 150 minutes.
Specific information makes the problem easier to investigate.
What should I avoid doing? #
While an activity problem is being investigated, avoid:
- Creating duplicate students
- Re-entering the same activity repeatedly
- Adding artificial activity to correct totals
- Creating another parent account
- Moving students between classrooms simply to change totals
- Changing campaign settings without understanding the problem
Correct the underlying record instead.
